The LCD panel on my Dell Inspiron 1420 is slightly busted and I want to buy a new one, but I’m uncertain how to look for a compatible panel. Can I use and 14.1” panel with a 30 pin interface or must I use ONLY one’s listed as explicitly compatible with this laptop?

However, if you are certain all factors (dimensions, voltages, etc) for the panel in question are compatible with your laptop, it should be fine.
