If I only knew strange problem!

Hi @mayer,

I have this problem too, macbook pro Retina Late 2012 A1425.

Have you fixed this error yet?

Thanks.

Update (06/22/2021)

Hi @dan , @mayer ,

Macbook Pro Retina Late 2012 - A1425

“[06/22/21 08:46:46] Speaker: Speaker Valid Vendor ID Test (test #5) - Speaker Valid Vendor ID Test

- Verifies the speaker vendor-id is valid, if it's '?' it's not supported, if it's 0xFF there is a problem mathing id's.

[08:46:47] ERROR -- 4 [Valid Vendor ID Test Fail.] -- TEST FAILED

[06/22/21 09:38:12] Thermal Interface: Processor:Processor0 (test #4) - TIM Test 75 percent GB

- Check that CPU heatsink is properly attached, using product spec theta dh + 75 percent guardband.

[09:39:06] ERROR -- 255 [Unknown result-code 0xff] -- TEST FAILED”

Fan max speed ~8000 rpm

My Macbook has 1 screw missing as shown in the attachment, and 1 speaker on the left side of the picture is damaged; My Macbook fan runs max 8000rpm; I don't know if it's because of these 2 errors?

How about giving us a bit more on what your problem is

If you can let's run the onboard diagnostics to see what errors pop with it. Restart your system and press the D key to enter

Reference: Mac startup key combinations

If that fails to offer anything how about installing this great thermal monitoring app TG Pro take a snapshot of the main window (make sure you get all of the sensors as some are hidden at the bottom of the window)

@danj This is the question he is referencing: Thermal Interface -Video Controller ASD Error Which is on a 2007 iMac. Is your Crystal Ball Broken?

さんによる

@mayer - Ha! It sometimes is a bit foggy though ;-}

But the ASD error doesn't apply in this series no AMD or NVIDEA GPU in the 13" MacBook Pro retina models (Intel HD Graphics 4000 engine).

You do need to be careful with ASD as you need to use the correct one for your system. For most folks (and even me) find the onboard diagnostics offers a good enough hint.

Sadly, Apple broke it with the newer firmware and even fully disabled it on the 2012 systems which is likely why you had used ASD here.

I would start off replacing the speaker for sure! That resolves your first error

SMC services will pump the fans up when either a thermal or current/voltage sensor reports something is a miss. Here the Heatsink thermal sensor is reporting a problem. The missing screw is one of the heat sink screws but it shouldn’t be the cause of this error. After replacing the bad speaker I would run TG Pro as it will allow you to see which of the sensors was in trouble.

Hi Dan,

If I remove the faulty fan and leave it blank, will it have any problems?

さんによる

No, SMC accesses the fan's tach system to get the needed feed back on what the fans RPM is.

But why are you working on the fans?? Your error was not a fan error.

Driving your car on three wheels is not too smart either ;-} Your system will overheat.

Did you install TG Pro? If you did post a snapshot of the main screen showing all of the sensors (you'll need to expand the window and may need to take two snapshots) Then we can narrow things down.

Hi Dan,

I'm a bit confused,

If I remove the faulty Left Speaker and leave it blank, will it have any problems?

Thanks.

Fan or Speakers it's not wise to disconnect them.

The Fan for sure! As your SMC will ramp up the fans and you could cook your system! Why do you want to do that?? I wouldn't do it!

Speaker I don't think will be an issue other than not offering the designed fidelity of two speakers. Even still running it that way long would not be smart as the Amp logic could burn out on you and that would be a much more expensive repair!
