Strange fault after Rear case replacement
Hi all,
I repairs phones and tablets regularly. My Dad is an IT tech and ex microelectronics apprentice. He recently had a screen repair on an iPhone 8 which went fine but they also asked for the rear glass to be replaced so he went ahead and replace the whole chassis/rear frame.
The phone will no longer power on. I have done a full teardown and rebuild and I cannot find a single fault.
I have also tried a new battery, however it has been sitting for a long time so I’ve ordered another just incase.
My Dad is extremely careful with pry tools etc, probably more careful than myself who can be a bit ham fisted.
Can anyone think of a reason why the phone will no longer switch on after a rear case replacement? This is really frustrating me trying to work this out and any help would be much appreciated.

Good news, I have now managed to get the phone to boot. I think I’ve identified the short as the diversity wifi antenna, although I don’t really know why if I am honest.
Now run into another problem where the phone will only charged when switched off. This is a bit of a nightmare phone !

Oh thats a new one on me there mate. Sounds like something else is shorting out the charge port when the phone is powered up.
