My 94 toyota P.U. won't start the second time I crank over?

When I initialy start my truck it starts fine and I can drive it with no problems. But when I shut the engine and try to start it again it wont stay on. It will crank over like it wants to start but dies down. I have replaced the Module, coil, fuel filter, plugs and wires, cap and rotor, and the throttle position sensor. I don't know what else to check? Please advice

Will it restart after it cools down? What engine do you have in your Toyota and what tranny?

It will restart after a few minutes. Its a 22re with automatic transmission.

Since the problem only happens once the truck is warm, I would check around the engine for any loose fittings or hoses that might have expanded and started to leak once they were warm. It would probably be a big leak to keep the engine from starting entirely, so open the hood with the engine running and listen for any hissing or sucking noises. Pay particular attention to the intake manifold. A vacuum leak can wreak major havok on an engine's ability to run.

Another possibility is a faulty O2 sensor. It will be plugged into the exhaust on the engine side of the catalytic converter. It's possible that that is reading wrong once it heats up.

From the parts you say you've replaced, the only thing left to check is whether or not your fuel line pressure and flow is adequate. It's a pricey thing to replace, so I would get a fuel system testing kit from your local auto parts store and check that your pump is delivering adequate pressure AND flow. (Though a good kit is also expensive. It may be cheaper to just replace the pump) It would also be a good idea to make sure none of the injectors are sticking, though a good dose of a fuel line cleaner can usually remedy that.

Could I just ask Jhun what the actual problem was with his PU in the end. As I have just purchased a 1998 Toyota Hilux and it is doing exactly the same thing. Although, it takes much longer than a few minutes to start after stopping, more like a few hours. I have brought it in to my local garage and they have recommended having the diesel pump checked. Just wondering if it was the fuel pump that was the problem in the case mentioned above, as it is a bit pricey to replace.

I changed my COR and still not starting now. I have. 3VZ motor on my 94 2wd pickup. Now it just cranks over . I checked cold start and no fuel is coming through. Any help is appreciated.

What I would start with is the symptoms of why it doesn't start. Is it getting fuel on the second crank and spark? Thats where i would start from and post results and we can go from there!

It might also be your ignition relay. Usually it isn't smart to just throw parts at a car but after looking at all the parts you already replaced a ignition switch makes quite a bit of sense to me.

There's some great suggestions in here, you can use the Toyota repair manual as well for bolt torque specification and for issues you cannot figure out yourself.

Have a look here: toyota hilux 1989-1998 repair manual

Most likely your radiator is not keeping your engine cool enough so i should check the hoses and wires like the other guy said and then take it to a auto zone, o'reilly's or some time of a place like that's near you then ask them to check the radiator and if it's faulty then just change it also they will know if the the hoses could messed up as well and they should check it for free.

David, if it would be an overheating issue, it would not "restart after a few minutes" Rethink your answer.

Derek Dee, why? If your alternator would not charge or the battery would not hold a charge, it would not " restart after a few minutes" and hopefully Jhun got it fixed in the last 8 month :-) Changing parts without proper trouble shooting can get pretty expensive.

what would you do then? leave it be lol

I actually agree with Mario T on this one...makes a whole lot of sense

It might work.
