Computer shuts down immediately after Apple Tone

I have this mac (got it for $50 :D) And it has an issue where when I power it on, it stays on until the apple tone plays, then it clicks back off. I tried this a few times, and now it's to the point where it won't even turn on. The Magsafe adapter is Green, and the battery is not charging. Apple's diagnosis was that it needed a new Mobo, ($750 to fix) but they never looked at it. Once I looked at the charger and it was flashing red and green. Don't know what that means, but whatever.

Anyways, all help is greatly appreciated!

Edit: I talked to the guy, he spilled sweet tea on it and immediately took it apart and dried it. After it was dry he put it back together and it worked for about a week. Now it won't even turn on.

IF all the corrosion on the logic board was not cleaned when the laptop was taken apart originally it could continue eating away at the board and possibly cause more problems in the future. I would pull the board and look for any corrosion on the board and clean said corrosion with 90% isopropol rubbing alcohol. once clean check the areas that had damage for signs of power surge. A lot of the time you will be able to just reflow the existing soldier and make the connection again. Some times components will need to be replaced in which case you might be able to get an A as-is board from ebay to take components from. I have done this many times as I work at a computer repair shop, however there is sometimes damage that I do not notice even under a scope. It could be a lot of trial and error until you get the laptop working again.

Hi, as the last person (Max) said you will need to remove the logic board again. Chances are that there are still some dried stains on that board in different spots (some lighter than others) and you will need to look at it in bright light. Slightly shift that board at different angles under bright light and look for any "trails" of stains, when you find them make sure you wet that small area with alcohol and the immediately scrub it with a rather stiff brush (a small thin tooth brush will do). After that then look at it again to make sure that the stain is completely gone then, look for other stains and then do the same again. This is not a full-proof-error free procedure because some components may have already been affected by the spill (some components are very fragile/sensitive when it comes to liquid spills). The coated electrical thin metal strips on the logic board itself could have already lost some of it's protective coating (which can cause an "ark"resulting in a random shutdown).
