Is Component reprogramming required on iPhone 6?

Hello,

I got an older iPhone 6 from a friend, as my old phone was literally falling apart and isn’t worth repairing. I wanted to replace my screen and battery (as it doesn’t hold a charge long enough) and I’m also intending to use Touch-ID with Apple Pay.

As this is an iPhone 6 with iOS 12.5.1 (an older model with an older iOS version), I wanted to ask if it is required to reprogram the replaced components or if you can just replace the non reprogrammed components without getting any warning about non genuine components.

Thanks for the help :D

You won’t have to worry about warning messages in regards to non genuine parts in the 6. We really didn’t start getting those messages until the XS series and above. Just make sure you’re sourcing good quality parts. Avoid eBay, Amazon, AliExpress, and Craigslist for parts as they don’t have any quality or warranty and often damage your device. And don’t buy the kit with a new home button attached as you will lose TouchID unless you transfer over the original home button.
