Confused! Logic board upgrade shows same specs as old Logic board.
HI, I purchased the following logic board from a eBay seller with high feedback.
APPLE MACBOOK PRO A1708 i7-7660U 2.5GHZ CPU 16GB LOGIC BOARD 661-07580
To upgrade the current board in my 13” MBP Mid 2017 i5 2.3GHz 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD.
I also purchased a 1TB SSD from a different seller.
When I installed the board, the unit booted fine, however it is showing the same specs as the old board, i.e. System info is showing the replaced logic board is a i5 2.3GHz with 8GB RAM. I tired a PRAM/NVRAM and SMC reset, however the same issue.
The 1TB SSD already had a fresh copy of OS X Catalina loaded on it, so I just used it. And it is recognised fine as 1TB.
The serial of the board is different than the original, and inputting it into https://appleserialnumberinfo.com/ it shows the board is the same specs as the original Puttting the serial into https://everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup... it gives me 2 possible configs the original i5 8GB RAM, and a i7 16 GB RAM!!
I have contacted the seller as I think they mixed up the board and sold it with the wrong description?
Or is the MacBook not recognising the new board specs, will a re-install of OS X on the new board make it recognise it?
thanks for any help
Update (01/22/2021)
Great thanks, Turns out the logic board is the same type as my original. I have advised the seller and initiated a return, its been a colossal waste of time and money however, Im not in the US and had a freight forwarder send it to me.
