Why does my screen have a vertical stripe?
I just replaced the home button on my iPhone 4. When I put it back together and powered it up, the screen lit up with a vertical bar. The phone looks like it is going through the normal boot process because the vertical bar changes after the Apple symbol would normally go away.
Sound works and so does the touch screen.
I assume that the LCD cable was not connected properly or had debris, but I don't see any. Any advice?

I replaced the screen and it worked perfectly. Looking at the faulty screen, I can see scratch marks on the LCD cable. So let this be a warning: when reconnecting the cables to the front assembly, ensure that the cables come through the metal case cleanly.
I know there were warnings in the step-by-step guides about the cables getting folded, but I don't think they adequately warned of the damage that could be caused.

I take that back. Re-reading the step-by-step, I see that the warning at step 30 was adequate: iPhone4のディスプレイアセンブリの交換

Mine literally just did that, first time it's happened. I held the lock and main screen button down for ten seconds and then it reset. It turned back on and there are STILL faint lines in the background of my screen.
Luckily I'm going into town tomorrow so we can go to the Apple store and get it sorted, but any suggestions until then? It's extremely annoying :/
