upgrading the Mac to 1 TB SSD

Hi Folks!

Hope you guys are staying fit and healthy.

I have a MacBook Pro Late 2013 15” Retina model (8GB RAM, i7, 2.0GhZ processor with 256 GB flash drive).

Can I replace this flash drive to 1 TB NVMe 2 SSD (with the below converter which is compatible?)

Block Image

Will it have any performance impact or will it support 1TB without flaw)?

By the way, I am planning to buy Crusial NVRam SSD.

Your system can support either a PCIe 2.0 x2 or PCIe 2.0 x4 NVMe SSD.

Your options is getting a real custom Apple SSD (made by Samsung), getting one of the 3rd party SSD’s made by OWC or Transcend. While these tend to be more expensive, they also stand behind their gear.

While some folks have had luck with M.2 SSD’s with an SinTech adapter. I personally don’t recommend them. I’ve taken quite a few out as they tend not to hold up and they do have a few issues with sleep mode as they don’t have the Apple interface lines nor the logic. Often you’ll get stuck in a passing the buck problems between the SSD and the adapter makers.
