turn it off last night and now can't get it back on

OMG! Stumbled upon this word as I'm having the same problem with my RCA full HD 52-in which is 5 years old never had a problem and literally one day it started where I would have to point the remote at the set several times and hit the button and it was sluggish like that then one day it just would not turn on the next day and after hitting the button different directions with the remote and eventually went back on and I discovered it stays on and works totally fine until I turn it off to go to bed that night bam won't turn on in the morning period so I just turned the TV on and left it on but I would go to bed I would put the mute on and leave it as a night light for the cats period but then I figured I should give it a rest and turn it off last night and now when I can't get it back on but how do you repair this? I am on disability and cannot take the back off of this 52-in television myself. HELP!

Liz- The problem is in the main board. Make sure you leave the T.V. unplugged for at least 24 hrs. Gently lay down your TV. face down on a soft surface. Only hold set to lift it by outer edges not screen. Take off cover screws. The main board is the smaller board to the right side looking from the back. Gently unplug all the connectors to the main board without damaging the plugs. Don't pull the plugs out by the wires but depress the edges of the connector plugs or figure how they are held on so they can release and then gently wiggle the connector as you pull them off. Remove board screws and board. Get the model number off your T.V. and the part number on the main board. On the net search for the main board using the part number. Shop around for the best deal. You may be able to buy a new one cheap for some sets from China but will take 6 weeks to get. Screw replacement board down. Plug the connectors back in. Then you can put the back cover on and plug it in.

Elizabeth Clarkson from the symptoms that you are describing this could be either a bad remote or a bad IR board. We would need to know the exact model number for your TV to see if we can help you further. If it is not the remote, the only way to repair it is by removing the back cover as well as some boards. Maybe you can find somebody that could assist you with that.
