if I can force the sensor in the computer to act as if its not full

Great info. finally. i had mi ice maker replaced right at the end of the warranty but only after the scumbags at Samsung actually tried to tell me it was out of warranty based on the manufacture date. anyway they did not replace the moto/auger/ir sensor/fan module i believe. i reset it and perfect ice comes down but only resetting it. the bottom section of the 3rd digit is flashing as well as 2 others on the second. i used my cell camera to see the ir sensor and i'm petty sure its not on. (my cell picks up the ir on my tv remotes so i figured id try). my question is do you or anyone here know if i can force the sensor in the computer to act as if its not full? in other words bypass it (digitally)? by the way the new style ice maker does solve the iceberg issue. they added some length to the trough in the back to prevent drips.

Has anyone figured out this fix? My Samsung stopped making ice because the sensor is telling it ICE BUCKET FULL... when it's not.. I know the ice maker works cause I ran it thru a test cycle and it dropped ice... Just want to override the sensor... I don't want to put anymore money into this fridge

My ice make says its full when the tray is empty and it never makes ice. I am wonder the same question? How do I get it to work

さんによる

I have this problem too. Stops making ice when the bin is almost empty. Had ice maker replaced under warranty. Makes whole cubes now but wont fill bin. Has anyone found a way to bypass the sensor?

@dennis brown I don't have a ton of experience on residential ice machines... but on some commercial units (like Scotsman) they have IR bin sensors. And one of the chief problems that causes them to think they're full is if they're dirty. May just be a thin layer of something on it, that you don't really even see... but try cleaning the lenses off. Can't hurt.

The problem is the sensor in mine is working I see the light come on when I use my camera phone but what I don't know is if where the IR sensor projects it's infrared beam to, which is located in the upper right hand portion on the inside of the ice maker motor (you have to use a small mirror to see it) is that simply a reflective device or is it wired to electronically receive the IR beam? If anyone knows please let me know. It certainly would be great to have a simple button that would tell the computer that the ice maker is not full.

Pablo Lopez. When you reset the ice maker your bypassing the thermostat that tells the ice maker to dump the ice and refill. If the problem is in the optic sensor the ice maker wouldn’t fill.

In my 35 year career, I’ve never had an issue whit an optic sensor. That doesn’t mean they don’t fail, it’s just not very common.

Our ice maker dumps one tray and then doesn't refill or dump anymore ice, just one and done. Sensor issue if everything else is brand new?

さんによる

@Jason Cranston it filled once and dumped then stopped, correct? I’d check the water inlet valve and fill tube. Is full tube frozen? Or the ice maker head gears aren’t advancing to initiate a fill. The sensors don’t kick in til after the fill.

Unfortunately the Samsung IR sensors fail on the receiving end of the ice maker located on the inside upper right of the ice maker motor itself. You need a mirror to see it. Even if your sensor is on which you can see through your phone camera a red light it is not receiving the signal at the other end which the two components are wired together so the computer knows the completion of the circuit. You would literally have to do a bypass wire, kind of a jumper cable so to speak in order to make this work. That's why Samsung's fix is making you buy a whole new ice maker motor.

I replaced the whole auger unit wich includes the ice level infrared sensor. My Samsung fridge says icebox full but it's empty. It's just out of warranty. I spent 2 hundred on the replacement part auger unit and still doesn't work. Should I replace anything else or is there anyway to get the sensor to work? I just bought this thing a year ago. So frusturating. I want ice. If I push the reset button it will make 1 round of ice. How do I get the fill sensor to connect on the other end and register as empty.
