Motherboard fault. Drains out the battery

Hello i am having a problem on my Huawei p30 lite. The phones motherborad drains out the baterry and dont let it charge

I owe 2 same phones and i dissasembeld both of them.I tried to connect them with all other parts and … I determined that both motherboards work perfeclty fine but that one drains out the battery, while it is connected to the charger i recognizes the charger but it is not charging. When i connect it to the charged battery it works fine until it drains out.

I dont know from where i should start in this situation.I know it is to the motherboard but what i should do or try?

any help is welcome

Hi @vod ,

Have you proved that it is not a software problem rather than a hardware problem as the OS is also on the motherboard?

Try starting the phone in safe mode and check.

If it works OK in safe mode, then a downloaded app is the cause of the problem. You will need to uninstall each downloaded app, one by one and check the phone in the normal mode to see if it is working properly. When it does the last downloaded app that was uninstalled was the culprit.

If still no good in safe mode, try a factory restore to reset the phone back to its’ factory default condition. (Look in the Settings menus)

Be aware that a factory restore will erase all your data and downloaded apps. It will restore the phone to its' factory default condition. Backup the phone to a computer or the cloud, before performing the factory restore.

After the phone has been backed up, use the phone’s factory restore feature to reset the phone.

Once the phone has been reset, check if it works OK.

If it works OK, with the backup that was made earlier, restore the phone using the phone’s restore feature to restore the phone to what it was before the reset. Check that it is still working OK. If it is then the reset has resolved the problem

If it is still no good, then it is a hardware problem.

I tried both and neither worked, the battery was still draining even when plugged in.

Do you know which part is the most likely to be damaged that's causing this problem?

Hi @vod ,

Sorry, no I don't know.

You could try "feeling" which component is getting hot as this would indicate power being used by it when perhaps it shouldn't be that much, especially if the phone was idling i.e. just turned on and not being used.

I can't find a component layout for the phone but if you do find a component that feels hot then perhaps the information printed on the component itself if it is an IC may help to identify what it is.

Here's an example of what I mean. In Step.7 of the guide it shows some of the components which have been identified by the markings on them. I realize that this is not your phone it is just an example that shows how the component markings can identify the component

Other than that you would need the schematics of the phone to work out what the problem is and I don't know if either one of the following links may be of any use as I haven't clicked on them to find out or even how much they may cost.
