Proximity sensor not working at all

A few weeks ago I dropped my iPhone 4 into my pool, but I recovered it in around 2 seconds and did the usual (bag of rice for a day, vacuum, etc. Now everything is working fine but the proximity sensor will not work in any situation at all. I don't have applecare, so I bought Zagg insurance that should cover it, but I don't want to be without my phone for 10 days, any suggestions?

Liquid damage works in mysterious ways. Sometimes it completely destroys your phone, sometimes everything works, it is all about the luck of the draw. My guess is that the water has damaged either the sensor ribbon cable or the sensor connection on the logic board itself.

From experience i have found the sensor ribbon replacements do not work. I have used genuine apple parts for a few iPhone 4's with the exact same issue and the sensor just does not work full stop, which diagnoses the issue down to a faulty logic board due to liquid damage. If i were you i would just send it off to your insurance company and have to live without it for a few days, because i am sure that if you went about replacing the ribbon you would have your iPhone out of service for much longer.
