Turned off one day and never turned back on

I have an old samsung 27inch Syncmaster that just quit on me the other day. The capacitive buttons don’t do anything anymore, can’t get the monitor to turn on or any of the lights to light up. Is there any way to repair it if I crack it open? What would I even be looking for?

Hi @jostewcrew

No problems ;-)

@ Rob Amesbury,

Can't find the service manual for your particular model, but here's a link to the No power troubleshooting page for a P2370H which may or may not be of some help, at least as a starting point.

Although they are different monitors and have different specifications there may be similarities as far as the monitor's mainboard power supply distribution goes and that is where you have to start looking.

Start with the monitor's power adapter first and make sure that it is supplying the requisite 14V DC at the plug

It may be that the inverter section of the monitor (maybe on the mainboard maybe a separate power board if different to the link I posted, idk) has a problem and this won't allow the monitor to even indicate that power is available by turning on the power LED but you have to start somewhere.

Also look for the obvious as well e.g. stressed components or bulging capacitors
