Hi, quick question. I’ve searched everywhere for the answer. In step 13 replacing the lcd assembly on the iPhone xr can you please tell me what is the purpose of the small clamp that fits on the shield plate. Seems they get broken a lot and I broke mine. Is this part important to the phone function?

If you are referring to battery connector cover step 13 here it should be put back on because without it is easier for it to disconnect by itself when the phone is dropped.

I’m sorry it is in step 18 the logic board connector cover. I broke the small clip on that cover

I think it is some sort of grounding / ESD (Electro static discharge) safe cover. It's not really important but the phone should still function the same regardless.
