My laptop connects to my phone's Wi-Fi zone but not to my house Wi-Fi

It's a Compaq CQ45 Windows 8 but I just updated it to Windows 10 to see if that could fix the internet problem but it didn't. Sometimes I get to connect the laptop to the Wi-Fi but it's really weak and it often disconnects very soon. But it easily can connects to my phone's Wi-Fi zone without any problem. In other laptops the Wi-Fi works well.

Hi Bea uwu

there are some ways to try,

On the device manager, what is the manufacturer and model of the wifi card?

  1. try updating the wifi drivers manually.

# check if the antenna cable is connected properly to the wifi card

  1. if you have a spare wifi card, swap and see if it works.
  2. if the signal is still bad with the swapped wifi card, there is a possibility the internal antenna could be faulty.

you may follow the below guide, page 7 for the wifi card location

Hi,

To add to the answer place the as close as possible to the WiFi router and check if the connection holds.

If it does this usually points to an antenna problem.

I'm thinking that the phone is a lot closer to the laptop when you tried this than the WiFi router was ;-)
