Is it worth trying to fix smoking pixel 2?
I had a pixel 2 which started failing to take a charge a couple days before it completely failed on me. I was running the Android ten beta and kinda thought maybe that was the problem, so when I took it off the beta and reset it, and the phone started charging again, I thought I had solved it. It stopped taking a charge again and all of a sudden I smelled something burning, I took the cable out and sure enough the smell came from the port. I took it for a repair and told them that I smelled smoke, but this time when they plugged it in it really started smoking and they told me to take it up with Google. Unfortunately I bought the phone off a reseller on eBay, and it had almost been a year since the purchase, so not much I could do. I of course have another phone now, but stumbled across the phone while cleaning and was wondering if I should bother repairing it myself? What could the problem have been, battery, charging port, or is there probably some amount of damage not worth tinkering with?
