Replaced motherboard; no apple wallet

I recently replaced my motherboard with another unlocked one when my cellular service was not working. This fixed my cellular service issue thinking the etiology was a broken solder ball somewhere.

Aside from the obvious Face ID not working I am also unable to get my Apple Wallet to add any cards to include my Apple Card. When I attempt to add any cards the error is a small pop-up saying “unexpected error”. This happens to ANY card I own that previously did work. USAA, Capital One, Apple Card, etc.

I have a 4-digit passcode on my device since Face ID does not work with the new motherboard and there is no fingerprint scan.

Am I to believe that changing the motherboard/logicboard also removes the ability to add cards to Apple Wallet along with the Face ID?

Apple wallet will work without face ID as long as you have a passcode. I tried setting this up once and got the same message but the next day it worked so I just put it down to a server issue. You could however try a six digit code but the unexpected error message would be more likely a communication problem with the server.

Face ID is programmed to the logic board, as is the ambient sensor and earspeaker flex. That all has to be from the same device for the Face ID to work.
