Ipad has grey screen, no apple logo- can't access on computer

I don’t know what to do. I’ve had my Ipad and suddenly it became grey. I can’t reboot, restart or anything). When I plus it in, the screen becomes dark grey and nothing else. No logo, no access. The computer asks for an update but can’t do it. I don’t want to restore as I have my honeymoon pictures on it . And as silly as it sounds we never connected an Icloud. What can I do ?
