Backlight worked, now doesn’t after liquid spill

Hello!

My computer had beer spilt on it yesterday without my knowledge, and sat in it for a few hours. My computer wouldn’t turn on or charge. After scrolling through this site I removed the back cover, unplugged the battery, and cleaned the minimal erosion with a toothbrush and alcohol. I let it dry over night. This morning, I replugged in the battery and rebooted. It turned on! Everything was working correctly and pulled up what was previously open on my screen. After about 20 mins the fan started running very loudly. I shut down to restart Incase it was getting hot. Now, the backlight on the screen will not work. I connected to my Apple TV as well as shined a flash light on the screen where I can minimally see content. After some research it appears the backlight is damaged through either the connector or the “p” WLED driver. I tried to run a hard drive diagnostic at restart but was unable to complete it. I am not trained in any electronics but was able to get this info from this wonderful community!

my question is how expensive is this to fix, what likely needs to be fixed and where can it be fixed? Or can I fix it myself? I live in Salt Lake City, UT.

I was also curious as to why the screen initially worked, and then why it would stop after a reboot?

I am happy to upload pictures if needed.
