During video calls on Zoom app and Google hangouts website and pretty likely any video call the CPU runs with only 30 to 10% left and speaker and microphone keeps turning on and off repeatedly.
The volume control looses the slider adjustment and just displays a stop/error sign

I would run the onboard diagnostics as well as watch the battery, memory and the available disk storage.
The app may run out of resources (RAM and/or drive storage) and if you are running off battery the power draw can exceed what your system can offer either because of poor app design or your systems battery is old and needs replacing.

I have the same issue. Tried removing all bluetooth devices. No joy. Internal speakers just go grey and disappear from the sound preferences device list entirely. If you're on youtube via chrome at the time, it'll also eat system resources and refuse to buffer the rest of the video.
