White screen sometimes and no wifi but able to connect bluetooth.

I have aa 3rd generation 8gb ipod touch. This device usually displays a white screen but from time to time works almost normally. When it is working almost normally, everything seems fine except wifi is grayed out. Also while wifi is grayed out bluetooth is functional. Restoring the ipod seemed to take care of white screen until I completely powered off ipod. The second time I restored the ipod touch the screen stayed white. Ever since second restore ipod has gone back and forth from white to partially working.
