Try turning off the unit if it is on, disconnecting the power from the receiver and then disconnecting the speakers from the receiver.
Reconnect the power and then try to turn on the receiver and check what happens.
If it stays on then check the wiring to the speakers to make sure that there is no short circuit connections between the wires at all. Look at the terminals on the receiver as well as the speakers
It is still cuts out then the problem is in the receiver.

What is the model number of the receiver?
It may be going into protection mode.
