Won't boot. Powercycles constantly when under power.

Hi,

Try the following.

Turn off the laptop if it is on and switch off and disconnect the charger from the laptop if it is connected to the laptop.

Once the laptop has completely shutdown, remove the main battery from the laptop.

Also IF the component in the image below IS a coin cell battery (can't see it too well in your video) disconnect it as well. If it is a battery, when it is disconnected from the motherboard, measure the voltage which should be marked on the battery itself to make sure that it is OK. This may be the CMOS battery (aka RTC battery) which maintains the BIOS when the laptop is turned off. When the voltage gets low the BIOS can become corrupted and this could prevent a start etc. This usually is a non rechargeable battery and usually has a 5 -7 year life.

Then press and hold the laptop’s Power button for 30 seconds and then release the button.

Reconnect the CMOS battery (if it is OK or even if not as the BIOS will have been reset to its’ default settings) and then the charger to the laptop, switch on the charger and then try to turn on the laptop and check if it starts OK (the main battery is still left out at this stage).

If the laptop starts OK allow it to boot all the way to the Windows desktop, allow the HDD activity to settle down i.e. wait about 5 minutes and then shutdown the laptop in the normal manner.

Once the laptop has completely shutdown, switch off and disconnect the charger from the laptop.

Reinsert the main battery into the laptop, reconnect and switch on the charger and then try to turn on the laptop.

If it starts OK allow it to boot all the way to the Windows desktop, allow the HDD activity to settle down i.e. wait about 5 minutes and then check the charge status of the battery.

If the battery is charging allow it to fully charge before switching off the charger and disconnecting it from the laptop.
