my iPod 160GB classic fell in a bucket full of water,i took it out immediately shaking and blowing the water out and i remember it showing a circle with a cross in it and the apple support link and it went dead.

gee, start of by treating it as any other kind of liquid immersion. I would start with this guide and reevaluate after getting it done. To me and my iPods the circle with the red cross USUALLY meant that I ended up replacing the HDD. But use the guide and see what you get. Let us know how it is going so we can continue to assist you. Perhaps it is too late to be useful, but put the ipod in a bag of uncooked rice and seal the bag.. The rice will absorb the moisture in the ipod.
