Only the wand works

Hello, I have a shark vacuum, and only the wand works. As in, the vacuum will turn on, but only the lights on the handle will come on, even when I switch it to the floor mode. I can detach the wand and spot vacuum, but when I reattach it, the floor part doesnt work. Normally, after I reattach the wand, the lights on the floor part automatically come on, but now they dont. I have no idea what to do. Help!
