Battery not charging, stuck at 1% and searching

Hi all,

I was doing a battery replacement on an iPhone 6S but have run into issues. I installed the new battery and plugged it into charge with an official apple cable, upon which:

  • iPhone gets stuck on the Apple logo screen for 10-20 minutes before turning on
  • Battery level stuck at 1% and there is no charging symbol present, despite being pluggged in
  • Device is stuck in “searching mode” and has no signal

How I tried to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Tried different charger cables, USB plugs and power sockets
  • Tried a new screen assembly
  • Bought a more expensive branded battery (initial one used was a cheap generic replacement off ebay)
  • Tried a new lightning connector assembly
  • Tried plugging into itunes but device is no longer recognisable by PC/iTunes
  • Tried toggling date between automatic and manual mode
  • Tried resetting the device but now is stuck on a screen saying “unable to activate” (device isn’t iCloud locked) and now I can’t progress through the setup any further (still saying it’s not charging, unrecognisable by PC/iTunes and stuck at 1% battery)

I’m not sure what else I could try at this stage. I suspect this could mean something has happened to the Tristar chip from what I’ve googled, but I don’t have the capability to do board level repairs. If this is the most likely issue does anyone have any reccomendations for mail-in board level repair in the UK please?
