The LCD readout symbols are fading. Is there an easy fix.

I have several TI-30X iis calculators I use in my classroom and the LCD readouts are fading. Is there an easy fix or are they shot?

Your calculators might be having a similar issue to the TI-84 Plus calculators where the ribbon cable is degrading. If you have soldering experience, then you might want to take a look at this guide here: Texas Instruments TI-30X IIS Battery Replacement for instructions on how to take apart the calculator. Refer to this topic on Cemetech for instructions on how to fix a ribbon cable: https://www.cemetech.net/forum/viewtopic...

If you don't want to try fixing the ribbon cable, then you can try Duane's suggestion of replacing the battery and adjusting the contrast. Although I find it unlikely that's the issue, hopefully it is something as simple as that. Otherwise you'll have to find a friend or student that's willing to take on such a project, buy a whole new calculator, or just deal with a partially broken screen.

Sounds like the Contrast setting is lowering, how are the batteries also?

Poor description on my part. You can see some numbers or parts of numbers.

I stick with my suggestion of adjusting contrast, otherwise, time to replace the unit.
