Flashing Apple logo after removing cameras
My company has employees who travel to job sites where cameras are not allowed, but they need to be reachable via phone and email so we’ve been removing the cameras from their company issued iPhones. Because the front facing camera shares its ribbon cable with the ambient light sensor and ear speaker, we’ve been cutting the front camera off the end of the cable. We’ve done this to numerous iPhone 6s’s, and one iPhone 7 with no problems.
After working on the second iPhone 7, it gave me the flashing Apple logo when I turned it back on, along with random thin lines on the screen. After reseating the front camera/light sensor cable and the two touch screen cables a few times, I tried just disconnecting the front camera/light sensor cable completely, and the phone turned on with no problem.
So I ordered a replacement front camera/light sensor cable assembly and installed it, only to encounter the flashing logo again. I decided to disconnect the cable again and turn the phone on to see how it would function, knowing that the earpiece speaker wouldn’t work, but I discovered that the home button wouldn’t work.
Any suggestions as to what to look at next?
