GE top load banging during spin cycle; repairs already made
GE GTWN4250D0WS top load washer, purchased 10/2013
A few months back it started making loud banging noises while accelerating for spin cycle, and ONLY spin cycle. I changed the black stabilizers at the four corners, the suspension rods are in good condition, this past week I changed the main tub bearing, and today tightened up the counterweight which was surprisingly intact.
The drive belt was exceptionally taut, the pulley is aligned, there aren’t any obstacles to the tubs movement within the housing… I’m dumbfounded. I’ve inspected everything short of the transmission, motor, clutch, the serious parts of the machine.
Despite all of my effort I cannot figure out why it’s still doing this. We’ve adapted to using “hand wash” as it doesn’t spin as aggressively, however it’s simply not as good of a wash. Any advice would be appreciated as my husband and I would really prefer to repair rather than replace.

That just usually happens around here when the load is unbalanced (mostly with blankets and other heavier materials . Lifting the lid and moving some stuff around fixes it. Our newer washing machine which we bought last year usually solves that problem by itself after some initial serious banging around. lol :-)
