GPS makes random noises, crackling, static, clicking. Sometimes voice just stops working. Often on start-up dim "GARMIN" appears on screen, then unit freezes. Needs many attempts to restart. Sometimes battery removal and replacement after a period of time is necessary to get it working again. Unit is about 3 years old with minimal usage.
Can you offer any suggestions on repairing? Thanks

Hi,
Does it do this when on battery power only or also when connected to an external power source?
If not when using an external power source the battery may be the problem. Try replacing the battery and check how it goes.
Has the device's software been updated lately using Garmin express in case there is corrupted software?

It does it when connected to an external power source. I rarely use the GPS on battery only.
Also, a software was recently done and the GPS seemed to work ok for a little while. Then the same problem happened again. I can try another software re-install and see if that does anything.

Does this on battery power and hooked up to the external power. Did a garmin express update over the weekend which caused the problem

Mine was doing all the above, but would usually function if I removed and replaced battery. Now it does not function. I get the garmin logo but no more. Tried doing update again several batteries with power cord on off , now even the computer doesn’t recognize it when plugged in. Any help? Who can I send the unit to or what could be done?
