My monitor isn't detecting a signal after turning on computer

Block Image

Hey,

After a while of just playing games on my PC, an issue started up where games would crash or the entire computer would just shut down and my monitor would read “No signal detected". Temporarily, turning off the computer in various ways fixed it and allowed me to use it for about 2 days, but then it crashed for good still reading the same “No signal"

I've looked for many solutions to fix this, like cleaning the RAM stick or taking out the motherboard battery, but these haven't worked for me. I'm also quite young so I don't know much about computers and stuff but i'm getting there! :P

Here are my specs:

Geforce GTX 1050 Ti

ASUS Prime 8350-PLUS (MB)

Ballistix by Micron (Sport RAM)

600W Bronze Power Supply

Let me know if I need to provide more info!

Edit: I've also tried switching out the RAM slots but that didn't work either :/

What CPU do you have? If you have a CPU with integrated graphics try plugging the monitor into the HDMI port on your motherboard instead of your GPU.

This kinda sounds like a GPU issue to me.

@viottolo I have a Ryzen AMD CPU, but I'm unsure if this has integrated graphics as you said. Is there something I could check to see if it does? I apologize if I don't know everything quite yet, I'm trying to fix my older brother's computer as a surprise :P

Edit: Looked up something that said the Ryzen doesn't have integrated graphics for desktops yet

Ryzen's should definitely have integrated graphics

@intex post some pictures of your motherboard and the back panel etc. That way we can see what you see. iFixitでの質問に画像を追加する方法

@oldturkey03 I took one with the stuff still mostly inside, is that okay?

@intex “No signal“is usually caused by missing communication between the monitor and the computer. Check your video cable. Make sure it is plugged into the monitor and the computer. Try the monitor on another computer to rule it out as a cause. If it works you know the issue is with your computer. Most like ya bad video card. Check it out buy temporarily getting a different card.

Your Geforce GTX 1050 Ti may have failed. You need to remove it from the computer and plug your monitor directly to the motherboard video output at the back and see if you get the display to come on. If you do then your graphics card can be bad or even the power supply rail for the card may be dead. Power supply can be tested with multi-meter but if you’re not technical then don’t do it.
