Is there an alternative to Apple's GSX?

Hi,

I am looking for an alternative that to Apple’s GSX that will help me do diagnosis for different Macs.

Here’s how to become a AppleCare Service Tech: About AppleCare service certifications Once you are certified you can then either work at a authorized service center or GSX supported company.

This is the only legal way to gain access the GSX. There are quite a few who will try to sell you access either a full rip-off or letting you use their account. These are both dangerous! As you are giving money to thieves! And while you might have access for a short time Apple is not dumb! The account will be closed out leaving you out in the cold and out of pocket!

Frankly, other than gaining warranty parts its just not worth it! Apples online diagnostics are also becoming less useful. There are other means to diagnose most issues and you found the best group of Free Support in the world here!

Thanks alot for this Dan. I agree with you, the diagnostics are not the best and I would like to get more details. I currently have a Apple Authorised Support Centre, but GSX info does not enable use to serve our customer better. Thus I am looking for an alternative.

Zafir - Can you give us an idea what issues you are facing and the given series of system.

If you are looking on some level of tools to validate the system is working properly there are a few free and pay for apps which can dump out the systems details which in its self won't diagnose issues directly they can be useful in ID'ing OS config issues.

Here's a useful write-up How to Verify Your Mac’s Hardware Is Working Properly Sadly the On-board diagnostics no longer work with the latest firmware & OS.
