Was replacing battery and broke off small diode...HELP!
I was gently prying the old adhesive backed battery from my iPhone 5 and accidentally broke a small diode off the side of the 3.5mm port in the process and after installing new battery phone will not power on. Switched back to old battery which still held a charge and still can’t get it to power on so I’m guessing that little diode was important, lol. Don’t ask me how, but I was able to find that tiny diode and was able to determine exactly where it went before I broke it. See illustrated images below. What I need to know is…
a) Although obvious, is this actually the reason my phone will not power on?
b) Can this can be put back on and how would one go about doing it?
c) If not, I guess I would have to replace the whole assembly then, yes?
I realize this is an old antiquated phone but I have 64 G of memories on it that I never sync’d or backed up to iCloud (don’t trust ‘em), and I’d like to at least have an opportunity to transfer everything to a SD card. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.
