You can plug your iPod shuffle into your computer's USB port to charge via the Apple proprietary cable that comes with the iPod. Once the on-screen prompts ask you whether or not you want to erase and sync the iPod, just click on the cancel option. The iPod should continue to charge even though you are not syncing the device with iTunes.
