iPod fell in water. Any hope?

My iPod 6th generation fell in water when I found it the screen was still on and had power but I didn’t turn it off immediately. The ipod turned off by itself later. I wiped all water from it and carried it with me for about 1 hour and I noticed the iPod logo show up and then slowly fade away. IT is sitting in rice right now but wont turn on if I plugged it in. If there is a short circuit……..Can it still be repaired and fixed? Possibly changing the battery or parts? Is there any hope at all…..its the newest ipod touch model and fairly small with compacted parts. Please somebody give me hope and tell its not dead!

Rice won't work and often causes more harm than good; rice flour (caused by friction between the grains) gets inside the phone and hardens around the components, plus at best rice is only going to absorb about 7-10% of the water at most.

Best results: Open it up, remove the display, disconnect and remove the battery. Give everything else a bath in 99% isopropyl alcohol; this will displace the water that's still inside. If you have access to a sonic cleaner (e.g., a jewelry cleaner), even better. Blow out most of the alcohol with compressed/canned air and let it dry for maybe an hour in a dehydrator if you have one, otherwise in front of a fan overnight. In the morning reassemble with a new battery and (most likely) a new display.

Any hope for the data? I had pictures on there tons that are rare. if the battery gets replaced will the data still be there?

Data is not stored in the battery so, yes, if the battery gets replaced the data will still be there. (Assuming the iPod is otherwise functional.)
