Battery indicator stuck at 10%

Hi all,

my battery indicator is stuck. I have tried all the tricks I could find online such as: hard reset, reset all setting and iOS update but still no luck.

Despite being low, battery lasts more then a day which suggests it’s fully charged. It’s been replaced 6 months ago. Also, battery health check shows 100% so I’m really confused.

I dont want buy a new battery and still have the issue.

Anyone with similar problem?

Thanks

Such battery percentage issues are often due to a faulty logic board IC that handles communication between accessories, charging circuit and power management. It’s usually caused by aftermarket cables and chargers and needs microsoldering skills and tools to be replaced.

You can still try a full DFU restore after backing up your data not to let anything untried.

This is my worry. Is there a 100% way to confirm that?

@tomtom235 A DFU restore would be a very decent way to rule out possible unexpected software issues. Some repair shops also have a Tristar tester that may give a clearer answer, but it's a relatively expensive tool that I, for instance, haven't purchased since symptoms for this particular failure are usually quite self evident.

I shall do that tomorrow and report back. Cheers

Sadly had issues with DFU mode. The phone went into DFU and iTunes recognised it as such. However during software extract, phone would boot as normal and therefore causing the restore to fail as phone could not be found.

However, I did factory reset the standard way but sadly still stuck at 9%!

This is clearly Tristar issue. Checked with my insurance and I can claim and get new phone at the cost of my excess. So happy days.

Cheers guys

@arbaman or maybe I could try new battery? My insurance excess high so could it be worth a try or the symptoms are too obvious?

I once serviced a smartphone with a similar issue. Removing the battery and placing it in front of a fan for 30 minutes before reinserting it fixed the problem.

Also, is the battery you are using one that the manufacturer recommends (specifically a lithium-ion battery made by Apple)? Non-proprietary hardware may cause “glitches” like the one you are describing.

Thanks Dan. The battery was from eBay so hard to say. I will take the battery out and see what happens. I’m worried it could be the logic board due to damaged component.
