You’ll first need to boot up under a bootable MacOS drive. In your case this model requires a FireWire drive or a Bootable Mac OS installer CD. When you got your Mac you should have received a set of Grey CD’s one of these is a bootable disk. If you have access to another Mac you could create a bootable FireWire HD/SSD drive using the OS it has. The one thing you do need to be aware of is the highest version of OS-X your system supports is Snow Leopard (10.6.x). So you do need to make sure you don’t try anything newer.
