Heatsink glued to CPU fans?

So the CPU fan on my laptop is starting to die, and I want to replace it however it seems that the heatsink is attached to the fan without screws, but with glue or something (can’t tell, all I know is it’s not by screws). Do I need to unscrew the metal top from the fan, buy a new fan, take off the metal top on that fan, then screw the fan onto the metal top attached to the heatsink?

Block Image

(I was thinking thats what I would be able to do after looking at this image)

The specific laptop I’m working on is the MSI GL62M 7REX.

No I figured it out, the fans heat pipes are attached to the top metal casing of the fan, and I just had to unscrew the metal casing from the top of the fan to free it. Doing so I also found out that it wasn’t the fan that was the problem, but that it was a ton of dust and other crap build up inside the heat sink fins blocking airflow.

Thank you for this I've been looking since last night when my CPU fan started whirring. I bought a new one but I might try motor oil first

That is not glue, it’s thermal paste (probably dried hard). Here’s a video on removing it and replacing.
