Should my controller power on without the LED/USB ribbon cable?

Hey there, I’d been having an issue on my DS4 recently where L2 made my character move foward. I’d heard cleaning things would help with that so I opened up my controller and just blew onto to joystick modules and the sensors. Anyway I noticed the LED/USB ribbon cable was unplugged from the bottom where the USB and lightbar is so I plugged it back in and my controller now doesn’t turn on. I noticed the ribbon cable had some bent pins and such and have already ordered a replacement but I cannot get any response from the controller at all. Is this normal or is there another reason my controller isn’t functioning? Thanks
