What is this screw holding the Touchpad?

I am fixing my daughters Macbook Pro Retina 15” A1494 Late 2013/Mid 2014-

I removed the battery OK but there is this one screw that I cannot unscrew.. I tried first with the Pentalobe that I used to open the case. It’s too small. I tried with a Torx T6. It doesn’t fit completely right.

It must be a Pentalobe as well.. right? But bigger than the one used to open up the chassis.

(The reason I want to remove the touchpad / trackpad is to clean it. It has soda in it it..)

Update (03/01/2019)

Ahaa! I didn’t actually need to remove the screw. I could just removed the metal plate (don’t bend it), it’s not held down by the screw. Only glue. I pried it off gently from the sides with a bit of acetone to loosen the glue.

Here is some good info on the subject (view answer)

adjustment height screw type on trackpad?

Update (03/03/2019)

It’s a Torx T6. Mine was a little stuck, needed some WD40 to loosen up.

Also, my Torx T6 bit had a little pointy edge.. which I filed down. This made it fit better.

Note, you should/can not wind this screw very much..

That screw is the click adjustment for the trackpad button action. Take a look at the backside of the trackpad here MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Late 2013-Mid 2014) Trackpad in the middle of the bottom. On the top edge you'll find two plates each held in by six screws taking these off will allow you to pull off the trackpad.

Yup.. I had no problem removing the trackpad after the metal plate covering it was gone.

That adjustment screw is totally stuck though, I could not move it.

And even after cleaning the trackpad and re-installing it, mouse clicks doesn’t work. Movement of the cursor works but no clicks. So I guess it has been damaged by the liquid and needs to be replaced.

After removing the trackpad, see if a little WD40 breaks the seized adjustment screw. You might find going in Vs our will also help. Use a small container to spray into and then a Cotton swab to dab the WD40 onto the area on both sides giving it some time to seep in.

WD40 helped, thanks. Clicks now works to some degree. Switched in OS to use "Tap to click" and the computer is fully usable again without external keyboard & mouse which was needed after the "soda incident" :)
