I have a LFXS24623S the freezer is not freezing all the time

I have a LFXS24623S that is around 3 years old. The freezer and Fridge will be working for a few hours, then it seems to stop working, freezer is set to -4, goes up to as high as 24 degree’s, fridge is set to 37, will go up to 47 degree’s. When I open the back cover the PCB board the LED is blinking twice. I press the test button on the PCB all the fans work correctly inside the unit, I get good airflow. I had a sears tech out, he check the compressor voltage and said everything looked good on the unit. This was during the time the unit was actually working with the LED not blinking. I am at a loss to what needs to be replaced.

Hi @cowboy101,

Have you checked that the area around the compressor fan is clear of dust etc to ensure that there is good airflow around the compressor/ condenser area?

According to this page in the service manual a 2 blink error code is a “stroke trip” which could be caused when the surrounding temperature is high, C-Fan, F-Fan and so on are constrained, or when cycle problems, such as moisture blocking or compressor defect, are related. That’s why I first asked if the compressor fan and surrounds were OK

The reason for moisture blocking are shown on this page. If it is a faulty capillary tube, as this is part of the sealed system, depending on your location, you may need a licensed refrigerator repairer to fix it.

Check the warranty on the refrigerator, as a lot of manufacturers whilst they only offer 12 months on most of the parts of the refrigerator do give a 5+ year warranty on the sealed system. Something to check anyway ;-)

Here’s a link to the troubleshooting flowchart in the service manual which describes what to check for when you have a pcb 2 blink LED condition. Scroll down to Section B2 Case 2.

As the tech tested the board (presumably at test point C - see image of board above the flowchart) and it was OK, it may still also be an intermittent problem with either the capacitor or the compressor, (sealed system?).

There are 2 capacitors listed in the parts for the refrigerator, part # 410G near the pcb and part # 410J down near the compressor. I don’t know which one the flowchart is referring to.

Hopefully this is of some help.

Hi,

Using a vacuum attachment that is thin and long try to get carefully around the bottom of the refrigerator and possibly under it if you can. If you have any pets the buildup of pet hair can greatly reduce the airflow over the condenser underneath the refrigerator. The lack of airflow will cause such an issue like you are having. Compressed air can work also very well in conjunction with a vacuum it could also not be very messy. Take care
