Samsung Diamond WF8502NGW Washing Machine fault tripping fusebox

I have a lovely Samsung Diamond WF8502NGW Washing Machine but last week suddenly noticed a red padlock symbol at the top of the display at the end of a cycle. (Pretty sure this is NOT the door switch warning)

Decided to try a wash regardless and it filled and rotated OK but then suddenly tripped the fusebox.

Figuring the 'cycle' had probably got to the heating stage I drained it out, disconnected it and did a resistance test on the heater and the reading was around 27 so that seemed fine

Took it outside, connected it all up but disconnected both connections from the heating element and the washing machine carried on without tripping the fusebox. (A lot easier to empty too) I also noticed the padlock light was extinguished.

What would this suggest?

Is the element faulty (Earth leakage possibly)

I was going to try reconnecting everything up as before but I have no reason to think it has cured itself.

Any help greatly appreciated.
