Why won't my ps3 power up

I played on my system last night with no problems. After playing I connected to the internet and performed system update. I fell asleep during the update and the console and tv powered down eventually. Today I tried to turn the console on and nothing happens, red light is on and stays on. No flashes, no beeps, no green, no fans, nothing. I can't enter safe or any other mode, any help?
