The touch screen has a dime light behind it, but shows now menu?

Our GoPro Hero Black 5, two years old, turn on, we can see the small LCD working on the front screen, but the back screen that takes up the whole back has a dim light, but has no menu or images? We have upgraded manually, but still no results. Any ideas?
