Why The phone Can't detect 5 Ghz Wifi?
The phone can't detect 5Ghz wifi in every day use. When I enable airplane airplane mode and turn my phone off and on again, it detects 5Ghz wifi and connects to it. But when i go out of range and come back or turn wifi off and on again, it cant see or connect 5Ghz wifi untill i repeat the whole process again. 2.4 Ghz seems to work fine. The phone is currently running android pie. The issue was also on Oreo. Is this a hardware issue? And how can i solve this. :(
I have done factory resetting and also tried changing wifi channels and resetting router. The 5Ghz wifi works fine with other devices.

Change the region in your router. After switching to a new region, you'll see new channels have appeared in your 5ghz channel list. Switch to different channels, save the settings, reboot your router and see if your phone can detect the 5ghz WiFi or not. If your phone can't detect then switch to another channel.

I too have this problem where i can sometimes connect to 5ghz and sometimes it doesn't connect no matter what. I have 2 separate ssid for 2.4 and 5 ghz , all the other devices in my home are connected to 2.4ghz , only my phone and my laptop connects to 5ghz.
Turning off/on mobile phone doesn't work for me neither does airplane mode. But what did worked for me(atleast this one time) was disconnecting my laptop from 5ghz so that no device is connected to 5ghz, then connect my phone with it and it works! Once my phone is connected i reconnect my laptop to 5ghz.
