New Samsung SSD not booting past apple logo screen
Hello all,
I purchased a Samsung EVO 850 for my mid 2012 13" MBP.
I installed the SSD, booted up internet recovery and formatted the drive to Mac OS Extended Journaled. From there I plugged in my external HD w/time machine and prompted the system to migrate all of my data using my latest time machine back up.
My backup was from the day before and was using Mojave. Everything seemed to work it accepted the back up and then when it went to restart and boot up the apple logo appeared the progress bar underneath loaded fairly quick for the first 75% or so then it slowed and when it finally was all the way complete nothing ever happened.
I tried to safe boot, tried to reset PRAM, and nothing changes it gets stuck the same time in the same fashion. I booted it back up with internet recovery to see if it was recognizing the new SSD which it was and even showed all of my data on the SSD so it is connected, it is being recognized, and presumably my data was transferred from my time machine backup yet it simply will not actually boot up.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I've considered wiping and just installing a fresh OS and then once it boots loading back up my time machine if that is even possible.
However would I be able to do a fresh install of Mojave or would I be stuck installing something far older in which case I would then have to continually upgrade until I got back to Mojave?
Thanks in advance.
