Water damage - Screen brightness turns on and off

Hey folks. I had accidentally spilt water onto my MacBook Air and had immediately closed it. After 24 hours of drying it I have found the system is able to be charged and everything to be working.

I had then closed it for an additional 24 hours and realised that the screen would continuously flicker from full brightness to 1% brightness (can't see anything at all). This brightness would last for Iess then 10 seconds before blacking out, it would require me to press something on the keyboard for the screen to activate. I have opened the bottom of the system and so far have not seen any sort of corrosion on the logic board. Is there anyone that can direct me to the whats causing the brightness to flicker and if its possible I can repair it myself.

EDIT: screen does not die if brightness is low

Thanks!

The logic board has stuff on the back side which you can’t see. This is the side that would have gotten wet!

You’ll need to remove the logic board and inspect it I’m suspecting the Buck controller might have some corrosion damage (Blue Chip)

Hi Dan!

Thanks for the answer. I will have a look, just a little update, after leaving my computer on continuously my computer is now working normally with no screen flickers at all. Should I take it for diagnosis with a third party dealer?

Sounds like you still had moisture inside. I would take the logic board out as you might need to do a bit of cleaning.

I don't think you need a dealer unless you're all thumbs or just don't want to do it.
