Is my TV lcd panel causing T-con failure?

Hi Guys,

I had a vertical red line on the screen of my 55” Samsung Led tv. After reading on internet, I tried to open the tv and press the cable ribbons on lcd panel which are attached to screen. It did not work and I could not find any bad connection.

Then I disconnected the lcd panel from T con board and re-connect it while tv was still ON and BOOMMM, everything went to dark. No display at all and just a black screen.

Now is it possible to damage T con board this way or I have just damaged the screen panel?

Also there were two conductive tapes between Lcd panels (one on left and one on right panel) and TV body. Is it important to have those tape connected to the body of the TV? And if it is the case then how do I find the place where this tape should be connected between tv body and lcd panel? I removed the tape in order to take the panel out.

I have ordered the T con board assuming that this might be the damaged part. Any help or comments will be appreciated.

@sam8823 “Now is it possible to damage T con board this way  “ absolutely possible. Unlikely that you damaged the panel (sure always possible, but unlikely). “This “Also there were two conductive tapes between Lcd panels (one on left and one on right panel) and TV body. “ sounds odd. Post some good images of your Panel and the cables that enter the panel. iFixitでの質問に画像を追加する方法 that way we can see what you see. You need to have more TABS on a 55” TV than 2. Also, let us know what the exact model is.

Hello again,

Thank you @oldturkey03 for the help. I changed the T-con board but no luck. Still the screen is black with no display. Everything else is fine such as back lights, sound etc. I have added the images in the question.

I measured the voltage of the old and new T-con board across fuse and tv metal body. Both of the boards read around 1.5 V when switched on. Is this normal or shall we have more voltage?

In the image you can see the power supplies from main board to T-con and logic board. I am not sure if this diagram could help to find which voltage we should be reading?

Now I need further help to decide on how to move forward? Do I need to check anything else and share with you guys or just order a new power board and try?

Also in the picture you can see the connections from power board to T-con board and two small conductive tapes next to Tcon board which I referred to in the previous post.

Thank you.

Best Regards,

SAM

@sam8823 not sure where and how you measured the voltage but 1.5V would not be accurate. You need around 12V on the T-con. Check on the wiring between T-con board and power supply and check the power supply.

Hello @oldturkey03,

Sorry to répond with delay to your comment. I was caught up in some family issue.

I have measured the voltage between the fuse of Tcon board and the ground (TV body). In off state of TV it shows 1.5 V and while it is on, it shows 3.5 V. Also there are three small blue LED lights on Tcon board which does not switch on. If I remember correctly, they were on once the display was working.

Any other help? Could it be something else such as powder board or logic board?

Thank you.

@sam8823 I realize this post is old but I have the same problem, I think left side of the panel is not working. How did you fix your problem?
