Sound from right fan

Hello,

So my right fan is making this sound, https://youtu.be/SloPjr4-vlk

I tired to clean it with an air blower can, but nothing is changed.

Should I remove the fan and try to thoroughly clean it again, or is this a hardware damage and I need to change the fan?

It sounds pretty bad, probably it’s time for a replacement. However, you can try first to take it out and blow it again and clean the heatsink radiator at the same time. If the noise persists after that, just replace it, there’s not much else one can do to improve the situation.

It does sound like the bearing is gone ;-{

This time try using a soft paint brush to scrub the blades through the slots as the blades are really caked up. Otherwise its time for a new fan.

Here's the IFIXIT guide for the fan in your vid MacBook Pro 15インチ Retinaディスプレイ Mid 2014 右側ファンの交換 and here's the needed part MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Late 2013-Mid 2015) Right Fan Hopefully the left fan is in good shape still.

@danj If I understood correctly it's a kind of Maglev fan, without any kind of mechanical bearing, but I never went much in depth into details.

No, it has a sintered bronze bearing (porous) which has been soaked with a lubricant. It does float a bit, but when you have caked on dust and stuff the balance of the fan is then askew so it can hit the walls and the top or bottom plates.

@danj Thank you for the in depth information :)
